Sacred prostitution and other ‚Holy Shit‘
Sexual activities were performed from 5.000 B.C. until the modern days all over the world in context of religious worship. The term ’sacred‘ suggests a full service without involving any kind of payment but the good feeling of carrying out one’s religious duty. Any religion has an own interpretation of sacred sex and so the execution of rites and motivation behind it is rich on diversity. The Hebrew Bible has two different words for prostitute. Zonah the ordinary and Kedeshah the holy, wich is simple to seperate. As we know a mistranslation may have epic proportions shown in the translation of ‚young‘ and ‚virgin‘ from hebrew to old greek with an immense impact on topics like gender conflicts and role interpretations.
What you see is what you are
Psychologist and experimental researcher Edwin G. Boring was the creator of the most famous of ambigious illusions in the world. It depicts a young and an old lady simultaniously. It depends on the manners and habbits, morals and ethics, education and obsession if the viewer recognizes a praying nun or a female genital. What do you see in first place? What does this tell about you?
Fractalizing a vulva
Take a look at a nun and take a closer look at her lap and discover in her vulva another nun wich has a lap too and the fractalizing begins. Or you take the other direction and while you zoom out you recognize you looked at the vulva of a nun and not a nun. This represents the Yin and Yang reflected on our lifes where we are sitting in between our earthly needs and social values. Doesn’t matter how far or close you are there will always be a Yin in your Yang perspective and vice versa.
Screen printing is a traditional technique where mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate. A squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the mesh with ink and with a reverse stroke to touch the substrate and causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh. One color is printed at a time, so several screens were used to produce this multicoloured image.
